The Glenfinnan Viaduct

The Glenfinnan Viaduct

Here I was, perched on this branch. One eye glancing at the Loch Shiel, the other looking at what my final destination: The Glenfinnan viaduct. I have to say that this piece of art is well-known: a guy named Harry Potter used to take a train which comes from London and which passes through this bridge.

So I was standing on this little hill close to the viaduct, looking at this beautiful bridge, try to assemble all the parts of this big puzzle. There was this sentence in Gaelic pronounced by Merry Fisher, the Caledonian canal which was still a mysterious place in my head. Well, my situation was a mess since April.

And suddenly I had an idea: what if this whole mission was only about me. Like if all these hints were only coincidences that my mind was trying to make up, motivated by the wish to find her back. I realized that this couldn't be true, Merry FIsher was real, not in my head. And then I had the revelation.

You know, when I arrived in this place, I was looking for an object, like a magic wand, something that you can touch, or even, my dream, her. Obviously that wasn't here, and as I was looking for this, I realized that I was loooking for my old, supernatural, powers. I had to go to find a source to make them back to life. That was my next mission.

The hint

Publié le 16 Décembre 2013 par Mr Oaken dans Inverness shire, My mission, Highlands, Fort William, Mission: Caledonian canal

The hint

So I was on this lock, walking toward the other bank of Nepture's stairecase, where there was this life belt. As I was approaching the belt, I was realizing who else was there. Actually he was not exactly on the belt, but inside the black box which was bearing it. There was a small hole close to one point where was fixed the belt, perfect for me to sit there while talking to "the black box".

Once I sat, I was sure of one thing: I was about to talk with Merry Fisher. Him, again. It has just been a few days since I had talked with him at Luss.

After four very long minutes of silence, he decided to say what was to be his only words, meaningfull words.

"Your hand is empty, go find it"

I realized... that what I need was situated 10 miles east.

I sat on the boat tie where I was to sleep for the night, the last rays of sun giving force to face the next day.

Neptune's staircase

Publié le 13 Décembre 2013 par Mr Oaken dans Inverness shire, My mission, Highlands, My origins, Fort William, Mission: Caledonian canal

Finally, I was at Fort William at the begining of the Caledonian canal. I arrived after several days of travel and I was really exhausted, but I knew my answer was close and I was motivated in knowing where she was. It was 7 months I hadn't any news from her! I was damn missing her!

So I climbed up these 7 locks of Neptune's staircase. When I arrived on the top, there was nobody. Just me, some boats, the mountains far away and the sun reflecting its last ray of light for the day against the water.

Before the revelation

Publié le 11 Décembre 2013 par Mr Oaken dans Highlands, Inverness shire, Travel, My mission, Mission: Caledonian canal

My road to the canal was near to its end. I needed a break.

Remember when I talked about why I was going Up North: just because that's the only piece of hint which links me to the abduction and when I lost her. And Merry FIsher who tells me some gaelic thing, "iuchair annad do làmh".

What if something big happened at the Caledonian canal? What if I get abducted again? I needed to clear my mind, and to free my mind before getting any closer. So I stoped here, at this small but beautiful waterfall.

Next step of my journey: the Caledonian canal.
